Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was just released to Digital HD, and in case you haven’t heard Warner Bros. has extended the film by almost 30 minutes to create the Ultimate Edition. if you can’t wait until the Blu-ray editions of ‘Dawn of Justice’ hit shelves, be sure to buy the Extended Cut on Digital HD.
The Extended Cut (available in the Ultimate Edition) has received overall good feedback from reviewers who find an enhanced story in the extended version: there is more about Clark Kent, how Superman gets “set up” by Lex Luther, and of course the new ending clip with Luther, and plenty more dialogue.
Another reason to buy the Ultimate Edition is that some digital services are selling both the theatrical and extended editions of the film in one bundle, essentially giving you a 2-for-1 deal. At $19.99, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is more expensive than most new feature films but for both versions it seems like a reasonable price.
Vudu is also selling the 4k UHD version of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for $29.99, which includes both the theatrical and extended cut of the film as well as bonus features.
If the overall dark and destructive tone of ‘Dawn of Justice’ is not your thing (like a lot of viewers), watch Batman (1966), or the “Adventures of Superman” classic TV series for more light hearted interpretations of the DC superheroes.
