The first batch of 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray titles from 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate and Warner Bros. are now available in stores and online. Fox has released ten Ultra HD Blu-ray movies, while Lionsgate and Warner Bros. have kicked off the new disc format with a modest four titles each.
The cheapest you’ll find the Ultra HD Blu-ray titles right now is about $29.99 (MSRP $39.99), but the combo discs also include copies of the films on both Blu-ray and Digital HD. This is especially important given that Ultra HD Blu-ray players are not yet widely available, so in all likelihood you’ll be shelving the UHD BD temporarily until players arrive in stores.
Ultra HD Blu-ray quadruples the pixels of conventional Blu-ray Discs and supports video playback up to 60 frames per second, as well as High Dynamic Range (HDR) content and Dolby Atmos audio.
