Apple has announced new pricing on 27-inch iMacs with Retina 5K displays, now with a model priced under $2k. A new configuration of the 27-inch iMac retails for $1,999, and comes complete with a 3.3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost Speeds up to 3.7 GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics, 8GB memory, and 1TB of storage. The new model is readily available at Apple.com.
In addition to the just-announced $1,999 model, Apple has also lowered the price of their top-end iMac with Retina 5K display to $2,299 (formerly $2,499). The higher-end iMac features a 3.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.9 GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics, 8GB memory, and 1TB Fusion Drive.
At 5120 x 2880 resolution, the iMac Retina 5k display provides over 14.7 million pixels of detail, amounting to approximately 67 percent more pixels than a 4K display.
“Customers love the groundbreaking iMac with Retina 5K display, and now with a new lower starting price, even more people can experience the best desktop we’ve ever made,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing
Apple also introduced a new 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display featuring the new Force Touch trackpad. Prices for the new MacBook start at $1,999.
