DirecTV app update for iPhone supports Apple Watch

The newest update to the DirecTV app for iPhones adds support for Apple Watch, enabling users to control their HD DVR right from their wrists. Enabled functions on the Apple Watch include the ability to play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward both live TV and recorded content (as well as On Demand programs). Users can also set episode and season recordings, and select options from the on-screen guide menus and playlists. The 66.9MB app (Version 4.0.106) was uploaded today and is available to download free from iTunes. No additional app for the watch is required, but the app does require iPhones to be running iOS 8.0 or later. Supporting DirecTV HD DVRs include the HR20, H21, and higher. The app update is for the iPhone only, as the latest update for iPad was released in March, 2015. Other entertainment apps recently updated to support Apple Watch include the ESPN app and NBA Game Time app.
