The release date for American Sniper on Blu-ray Disc and DVD will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015. And although we don’t have a date for the Digital HD release, you can bet it will be at least two weeks earlier — possibly Tuesday, May 5th. This means American Sniper, still in theaters, may still be playing on the big screen when the home media formats become available. [Update: American Sniper released to Digital HD April 21st, 2015.]
As of this post, neither the Blu-ray and DVD cover art for American Sniper have been officially revealed. [Update: Blu-ray package art inserted below.] However, the movie can be pre-ordered from several vendors, including exclusive Blu-ray editions from Best Buy, Target and Walmart. The Blu-ray Combo from Warner Home Video with BD, DVD, and Digital HD copy is priced at $24.96 (Amazon, Walmart) and $24.99 (Best Buy, Target).
Target has an exclusive Steelbook edition planed, as well as Best Buy’s exclusive “Only @ Best Buy” edition that will contain extra bonus content. Packaging has not been revealed for either exclusive edition, but we’ll get you artwork and details on the Blu-ray and DVD editions of American Sniper as soon they become available. (Note: Packaging released, see below.)
American Sniper stars Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, and Kyle Gallner. The film was nominated for six Oscars, winning Best Achievement in Sound Editing. As of early March 2015, American Sniper grossed an estimated $337 million at the domestic box office.
