At CES 2015, Sony is displaying their new 4K resolution Action Cam (Model# FDR-X1000V) with ZEISS Tessar wide angle lens that provides up to 170-degree field-of-view. The point-of-view (POV) camera records 4k (3840 x 2160) video up to 30 frames-per-second and 100Mbps bitrate in Sony’s own XAVC S codec. The XAVC S recoding mode also includes Time Code.
In Full HD, the X1000V can shoot slow motion video up to 120 frames-per-second, or even faster at 240 fps in 720p HD. The high data stream The camera runs on a BIONZ X processor and captures video with a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor.
For action shooting, the mountable camera is splash proof, shockproof and water proof (with the included Waterproof Case SPK-X1), and includes SteadyShot stabilization technology.
Manual and advanced modes in the X1000V allow white balance adjustment, auto exposure shifting, embedded GPS, and loop recording. Other features include live stream video through U-STREAM, Motion Shot LE, and still camera burst shooting.
The Sony FDR-X1000V will sell for $499.99 with the included SPK-X1 waterproof case. The Action Cam FDR-X1000VR bundle includes the RM-LVR2 Live View Remote and will sell for about $600.
