Spanish-language TV viewers will soon have an alternative to traditional cable & satellite TV service. In the U.S. only, DirecTV is launching an over-the-top (OTT) streaming service called Yaveo. The $7.99 per-month service (comparable with the price of Hulu Plus and slightly less than a basic Netflix subscription), doesn’t require a DirecTV subscription or long-term contract be signed. Subscribers to Yaveo will be able to stream on up to two screens simultaneously, and, the service supports pause and resume on different devices.
Yaveo will live stream programming from channels such as ¡Hola! TV, beIN Sports en Español, and Cine Sony Television, as well as on-demand movies, TV shows, music, Spanish-language soap operas, music, and documentaries from a variety of Spanish-language content providers. (See expanded list below.)
The service will first launch for PCs, Macs and Android devices. DirecTV says they’ll soon launch supporting Yaveo apps for iPhone, iPad, Xbox 360 and other devices.
