If you were one of the many Amazon customers who got in during the two-day $19 Fire TV offer, consider yourself lucky. Amazon has delayed shipment of future orders of the new streaming stick until January 1, 2015. This is good news for Amazon, as sales of the device have exceeded expectations; but not so good news for customers who may have wanted the Fire TV Stick for the holidays. Potential buyers may even consider alternatives to Amazon’s device, such as the slightly less expensive Chromecast or more expensive Roku Streaming Stick (we’re just talking about a few bucks difference here on both accounts). But those who did pre-order the Fire TV Stick within the first few days will start receiving shipments sometime after November 19, the official release date. Amazon may end up changing the expected date for shipments of new orders sometime within the next couple of months, as we have seen on occasion in the past. But for now, new orders of Amazon’s Fire TV Stick will be shipping sometime after the new year.
