Sony has finally revealed availability of three new 4k ‘Ultra HD’ TVs from their XBR line. We’ve known the prices of all the new XBR models since April, but have been waiting to fill in the missing pieces with ship dates for the 49-inch 850B, 79-inch 900B, and 85-inch 950B 4k displays. All models feature TRILUMINOS display technology, 3D support and two pairs of 3D glasses, video processing with 4K X-Reality PRO, and support for streaming Netflix in 4k (currently, just the House of Cards, and Breaking Bad original series).
But not all of the XBR TVs are ready to ship overnight. Sony’s 49-inch 850B is on backorder with an estimated ship date of July 1, 2014. The model carries a list price of $1,999. Sony’s flagship 85-inch XBR-950B is currently backordered until July 22, 2014. The giant 4k screen will only put you $25k in the hole. However, Sony’s 79-inch XBR-79X900B is in stock and shipping for $8,999.
Sony recently priced several 4k models with big discounts, including two 65-inch classes, so it may a while before you see any discounts on the newer models. The Sony store is presently offering price breaks on several models including the 65-inch class 900A priced at $3,799.99 rather than $6,999.99.
