Sony’s new 4K ‘Ultra HD’ Media Player (Model# FMP-X10) is now available to pre-order for $200 less than its suggested retail price of $699. Currently priced at $499, the X10 includes a 1TB hard drive, built-in Wi-Fi, remote control, and 50 pre-loaded 4k titles. You can also rent or purchase movies and TV shows from Sony’s Video Unlimited 4K service, with 24-hour rentals starting at $7.99 and purchases starting at $29.99.
And, Sony boasts 4k streaming of the Netflix original series House of Cards through the media player.
Unfortunately the X10 is only compatible with Sony Bravia 4k TVs, including the XBR-X850A, XBR-X900, and XBR-X900A, so be sure you have a compatible 4k TV before purchasing the X10.
Who is taking pre-orders, you ask? The Sony FMP-X10 is currently available for $499 from electronics retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, and Sony. The $200 discount is good through July 15, 2014, however dealers may extend some type of discount beyond that date, with possible deals bundled with Sony Bravia 4k TVs.
