This morning Sony Computer Entertainment announced sales of the PlayStation 4 gaming console have exceeded 6 million units since its launch last November. The 6 million represents worldwide sales, and includes 370,000 PS4 consoles sold in Japan since launching in the country on Feb. 22, 2014.
Over 30 titles are now available for PlayStation 4 from SCE Worldwide Studios as well as other game publishers such as Electronic Arts, Activision, and Ubisoft. Among the big name franchises are Killzone, Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA14, and Assassin’s Creed: IV Black Flag, as well as SCE’s Knack and Shadow Fall. Sony claims over 2.1 million copies of Shadow Fall have already been sold worldwide.
Independent gaming titles for the PS4 include Contrast from Compulsion Games, Warframe from Digital Extremes, and Don’t Starve: Console Edition from Klei Entertainment.
Among the upcoming blockbuster games for the PS4 are Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Kingdom Hearts III, and inFamous Second Son.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 system is now available in 57 countries worldwide.
