We first heard Comcast would start letting you stream live TV outside your home last week (as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection). Now, the new app called Xfinity TV Go is available for free to download at both the Google Play Store and Apple iTunes. The app replaces Comcast’s previous app named Xfinity TV Player for both Google Android and Apple iOS. Compatibility with Android will depend on the device, while Apple devices will require iOS 6.0 or later. As well as live TV streaming, the new app also includes some bug fixes and performance improvements on both platforms.
Networks available to watch live outside your home upon launch include BBC World News, beIN Sport, beIN Sport Español, Big Ten Network, CNBC, CNN, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN Deportes, ESPNews, ESPNU, Fox Business Network, Fox News Channel, Fox Sports 1, FX, FXX, Golf Channel, HLN, MSNBC, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, NBC Sports Network and Pac-12 Networks.
With Xfinity TV, Comcast also offers live TV steaming via Xfinity.com/TV. However, channel selections are limited and do not include all the networks you may subscribe to with your service plan.
The app also lets you stream TV shows and movies on demand from premium networks you subscribe to, as well as download content for viewing offline on your device later. Parental controls are also included in the app.
