Verizon has updated the multi-platform FiOS Mobile app, allowing FiOS TV customers to watch up to 9 select live TV channels while away from home. The Version 2.0 app update also gives subscribers in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. markets access to local live local network programming from ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, UniMas and Univision.
The national channels immediately available (depending on your service package), include BBC America, BBC World News, EPIX, NFL Network (tablet only) including “Thursday Night Football,” Tennis Channel and networks from Scripps Networks Interactive including Food Network and Travel Channel.
The app also gives subscribers access to select On Demand titles anywhere outside your home from networks such as Starz and Encore. And, over 45,000 Flex View titles are available to rent or purchase in or away from home via the FiOS Mobile app.
If you’ve already been using FiOS Mobile Remote and/or Verizon Media Manager, Verizon has combined those features into the single FiOS Mobile App.
“We’ve tried to offer a little something for everyone in this initial offering from the do-it-yourselfer to the football super fan to the moviegoer, and this is just the beginning,” said Maitreyi Krishnaswamy, director of FiOS TV’s consumer video services.
In addition, Verizon has made the FiOS Mobile App compatible with Apple iPhone and Kindle Fire devices. The app was already available for iPad, Kindle Fire HD, and select Android tablets and smartphones.
