The launch of FOX Sports 2 on Aug. 17 was less publicized than the FOX Sports 1 launch and replacement of Speed TV. FOX Sports 2, according to FOX Sports, will be an extension of FOX Sports 1 with coverage of UFC events, European soccer, motorcycling, and FOX-branded sports shows. The channel has replaced the eight-year-old FUEL TV.
FOX Sports 2, at least upon launch, has been heavy on UFC programming with live events, UFC Ultimate Insider, UFC Unleashed, and UFC Reloaded among the shows programmed for the week.
FOX Sports 2 will bring special exclusive programming from FOX Sports including a FOX Sports 1 on 1 interview with the New England Patriot’s Tom Brady today at 6:30 PM. FOX Sports Live, FOX Football Daily, and FOX College Football Kickoff also show up in the channel’s programming listings.
European soccer from UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League has also been on the slate for FOX Sports 2. Tomorrow, Aug. 20, the channel will feature matches from the Champions League 1st Leg Playoff Rounds starting with Olympique Lyonnais vs. Real Sociedad at 8:30 AM.
Additional programming on FOX Sports 2 includes Motocross racing, rugby, women’s soccer, poker tournaments, and high school football.
Car collectors can get a good look at some one-of-a-kind vehicles in Barrett-Jackson’s World’s Greatest Collector Car Events.
FOX Sports 2 is broadcast in SD (480i) and HD (720p). The channel can be found in HD on DIRECTV Channel 618, and in SD on AT&T U-verse Channel 651, DISH Network Channel 398, and Verizon FiOS Channel 198. The channel is also available from most major television service providers (HD availability varies).
