Charter Communications will soon be adding 80 new HD channels in Glendale and Burbank, California. In Long Beach, the company will add 79 new HD channels. The upgrades in those markets will start in August, and the additional high-definition channels are expected to be added by October when Charter completes a conversion to all-digital. In total, Charter will offer up to 185 HD channels in those markets.
“By removing outdated analog signals, we gain back a tremendous amount of bandwidth in our network,” said John Owen, vice president of Charter’s Southwest Region.
New HD channels include popular networks such as Disney Junior, Hallmark Movie Channel, DIY Network, FX Movie Channel, CBS Sports Network and FOX Soccer.
Customers with digital set-top boxes will also get access to over 10,000 Video On Demand titles, with over 1,800 offered in HD.
