Warner Bros. has announced the theatrical release date for “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” has been moved to Dec. 17, 2014. The final part to Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” was originally scheduled for a summer release, but will instead share the same market date as the first two films. “We’re excited to complete the Trilogy the same way we started it, as a holiday treat for moviegoers everywhere.” said Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. President of Domestic Distribution.
The second movie in ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” will hit theaters on December 13, 2013.
Peter Jackson directed, and co-wrote the screenplay for “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” along with Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens. Executive producers of the film include Alan Horn, Toby Emmerich, Ken Kamins and Carolyn Blackwood. Eileen Moran and Philippa Boyens are additional co-producers.
