Once again, the juggernaut that is Call of Duty has carpet-bombed the entertainment industry with its first-day sales. Activision says Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. and U.K. last Tuesday, earning some $400 million dollars. That total stomps on last year’s $310 million take by Black Ops, which also was a record-setter, as was Modern Warfare 2 the year before that. Seeing a trend here?  It’s safe to say that in terms of sales, the much-ballyhooed matchup between Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 has resulted in a 1st round TKO by the defending champ. EA’s military shooter did top the October sales charts though, selling a very impressive 2 million games from October 25-31.
