The satellite company also posts record number of subscribers in third quarter 2011DirecTV and AT&T have extended their partnership for three years, to provide combined television, broadband and voice services throughout 22 U.S. states. The agreement will extend throughout March, 2015. In a separate but related agreement, DirecTV will continue to sell AT&T services to it’s customers and through other sales channels.
“We want all of our customers to have the option to receive a complete, integrated bundle of services from us, including TV,” said Jeff Weber, VP video services, AT&T.
Simultaneously with the announcement of the AT&T extension, DirecTV posted record numbers of new subscribers for the third quarter 2011, adding over 327,000 customers in the U.S. only. The company ended the quarter with 19.8 million customers.
DirecTV heavily promoted its offer of the $300 NFL Sunday Ticket package to customers who switch from rival services. New customers who sign up before November 23, 2011 can receive a free whole-home upgrade, close to 50 free movie channels for 3 months, and NFL Sunday Ticket for the entire season.
