Get your ‘Harry Potter’ DVDs and Blu-rays soon

If you're waiting on purchasing any Harry Potter DVDs or Blu-ray Discs, or hoping there will be a post-holiday clearance, you might think twice about holding out. Warner Bros. will apparently stop shipping Harry Potter discs to stores by the end of the year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio/distributer is hoping the imposed deadlines will increase sales.

New on Blu-ray: Jurassic Park Trilogy, Captain America, Dazed & Confused

Perhaps the most anticipated Blu-ray Disc this week is the release of the Jurassic Park trilogy on Blu-ray Disc. The films (spanning from 1993 - 2001) have been digitally restored and remastered to high-definition 1080p. The audio (with soundtrack from John Williams) is presented in impressive 7.1 channel surround sound.

Modern Warfare 3 official launch trailer released

Activision has just released the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® 3 launch trailer. In MW3, Special Ops co-op has been "reinvented" with an all-new survival mode. MW3 will hit shelves on November 8, 2011.

E! HD added to Verizon FiOS TV

E! HD has been added to the Verizon FiOS TV channel lineup. The new high-definition version can be found on Channel 696, while the standard-definition version can be found on Channel 196. Popular E! shows now available in hi-def to FiOS TV subscribers include "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," The Soup," and and "True Hollywood Story."

Sony is offering a refurbished BDP-S270 Blu-ray Disc player for $59, after a discount of $40 off the regular price of $99 (MSRP $179)....

DirecTV subscribers may lose Fox channels

In yet another carriage dispute that really does nothing for TV viewers except piss them off, DirecTV is threatening to pull the plug on Fox channels citing demands from Fox for 40% more in subscription fees.

Wii and Nintendo 3DS to get Hulu Plus

Nintendo has announced Hulu Plus will be available for Wii consoles and the mobile 3DS by the end of the year. With Hulu Plus, users will be able to stream movies and TV shows from the Hulu library for $7.99 per month. A few titles queued up on Hulu Plus include Glee, Dancing with the Stars, and Lost all of which will stream with limited advertising.

Weather Channel launches 3D app for iPad

If you've got an iPad you might want to check out the new interactive 3D map application from Weather Channel. The free app gives you weather-triggered background images (which are animated in 3D on iPad 2 models), a screen with forecasts from 10-days all the way down to 15-minute increments, a 3D spinning globe, news mashup, social networking integration, and video clips in HD quality. You can download the app from the Apple Store or check out a demo on YouTube.
