Sharp brings back Elite brand as HDTVs with RGB+Y

Sharp announced they will bring back the Elite brand of televisions starting with two Elite series LED LCD HDTVs later this month. The new Elite series TVs use Sharp’s RGB+Y color technology which adds an additional yellow pixel to the standard red, green and blue combo. Sharp says RGB+Y uses less power and creates better color reproduction.

The Elite HDTVs also feature FluidMotion (for smooth motion in effect greater than 240 Hz), Full Array LED, and Local Dimming, THX and ISF certification, and internet connectivity. And, both models will support 3D and include two sets of active-shutter 3D glasses.

The Sharp Elite series LED LCD HDTVs will be available in 60″ (Pro-60X5FD) and 70″ (Pro-70X5FD) sizes, priced at $5,999 and 8,499, respectively.
