20th Century Fox’s X-Men: First Class will be the first Blu-ray Disc to include a digital copy of the film compatible with Google’s Android smartphones and tablets. The disc will allow access to the studio’s website where the copy can be downloaded to a PC then transferred to a smartphone. The new movie download service for Android-platform will be first available in the US, UK, France, and Germany. Twentieth Century Fox Senior VP of Marketing Vincent Marcais said the service “further enhances Blu-ray discs as the best way to get your movies to call your screens.” Google already launched a streaming movie service for Android in May, 2011. X-Men: First Class will release on Blu-ray Disc (with Digital Copy) and DVD on Sept. 9, 2011. Via The Financial Times.
