Derek Jeter might be facing quite a bit of pressure these days, not only with the anticipation of his 3000th hit but with HBO and MLB film crews trailing him day and night. The two parties have partnered to create a documentary about Jeter’s quest for 3k, a statistic only reached by 27 other Major League Baseball players. Jeter could reach the milestone this week with only 4 hits left to go.
When could it happen? The Yankees will play the Indians tonight in the third game of a road trip, although manager Joe Girardi hasn’t promised Jeter will be in the lineup tonight. (Girardi may keep him out to rest.) However, you can expect Jeter to be on the roster as the Yankees face the Tampa Bay Rays at home for a four game series starting Thursday night and ending Sunday afternoon.
HBO hasn’t announced an air date for the documentary which is appropriately titled “DEREK JETER 3K.” However, they have announced the special be available to subscribers after it premieres on HBO ON DEMAND and HBO GO.
