Activision unveiled Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock today, the latest installment in their million-selling Guitar Hero franchise. Centering around a Heavy Metal theme, the game will feature over 90 all-new tracks spanning metal and beyond — the biggest ever selection on a single disc — as well as a revamped Story Mode featuring the voice talents of KISS’s Gene Simmons.
While Rock Band 3 features a keytar-esque peripheral, Warriors of Rock is sticking to the guitar, drums, vocals & bass combination. Activision said that the new guitar controller will be specifically designed with the Heavy Metal aesthetic and gameplay in mind.
The game will be compatible with all previous Guitar Hero tiles since Guitar Hero: World Tour, allowing gamers to import songs from any of those games to play in Warriors of Rock. Most of these songs will have “new challenges,” which, with over 500 songs currently available either from a disc or download, could increase the game’s replay value immensely.
As with previous Guitar Hero games, Activision is slowly revealing the tracklist leading up to the game’s release date this fall. The first round of announced songs is as follows:
