Amazon has dropped the price of this week’s upcoming Avatar release on Blu-ray/DVD Combo disc. The 2D version of Avatar was $24.99 (Reg. $39.99) but has been dropped 50-percent to $19.99. The two-disc set includes both high-definition Blu-ray and DVD versions. And, although no extras are included, producer Jon Landau says this strip-down version will have “the best picture and sound possible,” using all available BD space to maximize the quality of the film. (According to Landau, menus, extras, trailers and studio promotions will be omitted.) Avatar will release on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on Thursday, April 22, 2010, coinciding with this year’s Earth Day which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. (Read more here about Avatar’s Earth Day release.) Check out the price drop on Amazon and the Earth Day website.
