Cox launches WRIC HD in parts of Virginia

Cox Communications launched WRIC in HD (Channel 708) to subscribers in King and Queen County, New Kent, and West Point, VA. WRIC is the local ABC affiliate broadcast from Richmond previously only available in standard definition in those areas.

With the addition of WRIC in HD, CNN HD has moved to channel 707 in those markets only. So, now you will find WRIC (SD) on Channel 8, and WRIC (HD) on Channel 708. CNN (SD) will be found on Channel 7 and CNN (HD) will be found on Channel 7070.

Cox says the channel changes will be easier for users to remember. The channel moves will not affect other areas of Hampton Roads.

To receive WRIC HD, customers will need an HD receiver and Cox Limited Basic Service. To receive CNN HD, customers will need an HD receiver or CableCARD and a subscription to Cox Standard service, Digital Gateway and HD Expanded Service.
