Time Warner to add Smithsonian HD channel

Time Warner Cable and Smithsonian Networks have reached a distribution agreement which will allow the cable TV provider to broadcast the Smithsonian Channel in HD. Smithsonian Channel will also make its content available through Time Warner’s Road Runner internet service and On Demand in high definition.

Susan Weinstein, VP Programming for Time Warner Cable said, “This is a great opportunity for Time Warner Cable to provide programming that highlights American culture and history, in high definition and On Demand.”

Smithsonian Channel brings programming inspired by the assets of the Smithsonian Institution. Smithsonian Channel HD features original documentaries, short-subject explorations and programs highlighting America’s historical, cultural and scientific heritage.
