The Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player was announced for UK release this summer. The BD player has added DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD functionality for the first time in a Sony entry level player. The BDP-S360 will be released in the U.S. on May 4, 2009 and is available for Pre-order
at Amazon.com.
The Sony BDP-S360 delivers 1080p resolution and 7.1 channel surround sound through the integrated DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD decoding capabilities.
Other notable features include “quick start up mode” which allows allows player operation in just 6 seconds, less energy consumption in playback and stand-by mode (15% and 20% respectively), and Sony’s Precision Drive technology which helps correct wobbling discs from three directions.
The player also features BD-Live, Precision Cinema HD Upscale technology, Bonus View (providing Picture-in-Picture capability with certain titles), HDMI v1.3, and comes with a built-in USB port.
The Sony BDP-S360 is currently priced at $299 at Amazon.com.
