Dish Network announced their local HD expansion into 5 additional markets, bringing the satellite television provider’s local HD coverage to 70 markets. The new markets include Florence – Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Fort Myers – Naples, Fla.; Greenville – New Bern – Washington, N.C.; Madison, Wis.; and Wilkes Barre – Scranton, Pa.
The company plans to offer local HD in 100 markets by the end of the year. Yesterday competitor DirecTV already reached 100 local markets with the addition of Columbia-Jefferson City, Mo. and Evansville, Ind. to their roster.
Dish Network currently offers an all-HD service called TurboHD. The service plan starts at $24.99 per month and is available in three separate tiers. Current Dish Network customers can get into the Turbo HD lineup for as little as $10.
