Residents of six Central Arkansas communities now have the option of IPTV based FiOS television service that includes a high-definition lineup from AT&T. Residents who subscribe to the company’s U-verse package will get up to 320 channels. The Arkansas communities include: Little Rock, North Little Rock, Maumelle, Benton, Cammack Village and Sherwood.
U-verse offers the combination of television, high-speed internet, and Internet-based voice service. AT&T has been involved in a battle with cable television providers including Comcast, who contend the IPTV provider should have to abide the same cable franchise rules cable companies abide to.
11 other cities are expected to be make agreements with AT&T, including large cities like Bentonville , Fayetteville , Fort Smith , Rogers and Springdale. Other cities include Barling , Bethel Heights , Little Flock , Lowell , Johnson and Elm Springs.
