Robin Hood to air in HD

According to an advertisement, “Robin Hood” will be offered in HD (high-definition) this coming Fall on BBC America HD. The soon to launch new channel (no date has been set), will carry the show along with other HD programming.

Some shows which are currently offered by BBC America which we hope will make it to the HD channel lineup include “Doctor Who”, “Top Gear” and “Torchwood.” “Torchwood” is currently available in high definition on HDNet.

BBC America On Demand also offers programming on through VOD television services. Some of the shows include “The Office”, “MI-5” and “Robin Hood.”

The channel started producing its own content and co-producing content in 2004. Most recently they launched “BBC World News America” in October of 2007.

  1. There is no point in hoping that Dr Who will make it to the HD channel, because it has never been shot in HD! The producer (Russel T Davis) found shooting Torchwood in HD such a pain (and a drain on his budget) that refused to shoot Dr Who in HD.

(Although there is hope for the future, he is leaving the series in a couple of years, perhaps his successor will shoot in HD).
