Cox expands HD channels in Arizona

cox logoCox Communications announced yesterday additions to its high definition (HD) lineup. The company is adding seven new channels to both the Valley and Southern Arizona areas. Cox also noted the Discovery HD Theater will move to channel 714.

The new HD channels for the Valley are TBS HD (Ch. 716), Science Channel HD (Ch. 720), Discovery HD (Ch. 723), Golf Channel HD/Versus HD (Ch. 744 for subscribers to the Sports & Information tier), Food Network HD (Ch. 746), Animal Planet HD (Ch. 757) and the History Channel HD (Ch. 762).

The new HD channels in Southern Arizona include TBS HD (Ch. 730), Science Channel HD (Ch. 720), Discovery HD (Ch. 723), Golf Channel HD/Versus HD (Ch. 744), Food Network HD (Ch. 738), Animal Planet HD (Ch. 764) and the History Channel HD (Ch. 736).

Cox Communications is the third largest cable provider and a broadband communications provider serving close to 3 million customers in Arizona. 2.5 million of those subscribers are in the metro Phoenix area while 400,000 are in the Southern Arizona area. The service runs on a hybrid fiber coaxial cable network.
