Donate your HD DVD player

future shop logoFuture Shop of Canada is offering a donation program where you bring your HD DVD into any Future Shop and get $100 towards an LG or Samsung Blu-ray / HD DVD combo player. The donated HD DVD player will be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada to use for after-school and evening programs.

Now you say, why give kids a piece of technology that is already extinct? Let’s not forget that an HD DVD player can also be used as an upconverting DVD player. The Boys and Girls Club kids will be watching DVDs in better resolution than most schools, thanks to this program.

So if you’re in Canada, do something great for kids and at the same time get yourself a Blu-ray player. The program starts today, March 7th and ends April 3rd. Hopefully a similar program will be started in the United States. It would be a great way for someone who invested in HD DVD to transition into Blu-ray.
