“We launched FiOS TV in 2005 with more HD than most cable and satellite companies, and we know that our HD customers expect us to continue that lead, says Shawn Strickland, vice president – video solutions. “We’re planning a major initiative in 2008 that will give our customers an unprecedented choice of HD and other programming.”

In spring 2008, Verizon will start expanding its HD channels as well as its sports and multicultural programming on FiOS TV. The company will first double its number of HD channels to more than 60, and begin expanding its video-on-demand HD library which is expected to grow to 1,000 in 2008.

Verizon Communications Inc., headquartered in New York, is a leader in delivering broadband and other wireline and wireless communication innovations to mass market, business, government and wholesale customers.
