Sony also announced that their 80 GB Playstation 3 will be dropped by $100, down to $499. The more expensive, larger hard drive model will come packaged with the Blu-ray movie “Spider-Man 3”, and also allow backward compatibility with Playstation 2 games, a feature that the lower priced PS3 does not have.
The Playstation 3 also has a built-in Blu-ray Disc player. So if you are looking to kill two birds with one stone, or more importantly save $500 on a Blu-ray Disc player, get the Playstation 3. I strongly suggest getting the larger 80 GB model. Although its $100 more than the 40 GB, you get backward compatibility so you won’t have to have 2 units hooked up to your TV.
