This coming Sunday, Mar. 3 Time Warner Cable SportsNet will broadcast the LA Galaxy’s opening match against Chicago Fire from The Home Depot Center in Los Angeles. The soccer match will be the first of 22 games slated to broadcast on TWC SportsNet, and will start at 2 p.m. PST. The channel will also televise the Galaxy’s MLS Cup ring presentation right before the game, starting at 1:30 p.m. PST.
A deal announced today by Amazon puts hundreds of TV episodes from Scripps Networks Interactive a click away for Amazon Prime subscribers and Instant Video customers. The Scripps channels include HGTV, DIY Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel and Travel Channel. The online-only subscription distribution deal with Amazon is a first for Scripps, and exclusive to Amazon. If you’ve been storing up those DIY shows on your DVR, the Prime library might allow you to free up some space.

Amazon has announced episodes of the FX series Justified are being made available to Prime members at no additional cost. The episodes are currently available to purchase for $1.99 each, or within a discounted season pass. But the addition to the Prime library will give subscribers access to all four season of the western crime drama. The agreement with Sony Pictures Television apparently gives Amazon exclusive online subscription distribution rights. Justified episodes are available to stream in HD quality.

Sony has announced the Xperia Tablet Z will start shipping worldwide in the second quarter of this year. The 10.1″ Xperia Tablet is based on the Xperia Z smartphone (pictured left), sharing the same material construction and “OmniBalance” design. Sony says the tablet is the “world’s slimmest and lightest tablet” in the 10″ class, measuring 6.9mm thin and 595 grams. The display is full HD (1920 x 1200p/16:10) with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. Opticals on the tablet include a front 2MP camera and 8MP rear camera with “Exmor R for mobile” back-illuminated CMOS.
The 85th Oscars aired last night on ABC and early ratings put the three-and-a-half hour event the highest since 2007 when Ellen DeGeneres hosted. Nielsen reports give the show a 4% increase from last year at 26.6 household and 41 share, compared to 27.7 and 42 in ’07.

Paramount has announced Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away will release to Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 12, 2013. The film, released to theaters late December, was executive produced by James Cameron (Avatar) and written/directed by Andrew Adamson (The Chronicles of Narnia).
Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away will be available in two Blu-ray editions including a Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD combo or Three-Disc Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. With both editions you’ll also get a Digital Copy and UltraViolet access code. Extras include the “Making Worlds Away” featurette and “A Day in the Life with Erica Linz,” who stars in the performance as Mia. Specs on the Blu-ray Discs include 1080p HD video with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
Today Dish Network released their end-of-year financial reports, claiming total revenue of $14.27 billion in 2012, compared to $14.05 billion in 2011 (which represents a 1.6 percent increase). In 2012 Dish Network added about 89,000 net pay-TV subscribers, that number up from having lost 166,000 net pay-TV subscribers in 2011.
