Verizon and Motorola have partnered to release two new DROID XYBOARD tablets this month with Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" operating systems. The tablets boast dual-core 1.2 GHz processors, 1 GB of RAM, and MotoCast.
Folks looking forward to the new Kindle Fire tablet will be happy to know Hulu Plus and ESPN ScoreCenter have been added to the Fire's features. And, those who ordered the Kindle Fire will also be happy to know the tablet is shipping today, a day earlier than scheduled.
Yesterday, Jeff Bezos of Amazon introduced a new line of Kindle eReaders including the new Kindle Fire -- a first step into the tablet market which Apple has dominated since the release of the iPad in 2010.
Sony is now taking pre-orders on their first two tablets to hit the market. The Sony Tablet S will hit shelves next month in two hard-drive configurations -- 16GB and 32 GB -- priced at $499 and $599, respectively. Each tablet will feature a 9.4-inch touchscreen display and NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor.
Vizio has announced pricing on their new tablet set to ship next month to stores. At $349, the 8" touch screen, 1024 x 768 resolution tablet comes equipped with HDMI video output, front facing camera, and 3-speaker arrangement allowing stereo in both portrait and landscape modes.
Sprint will start selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 this Friday online, over the phone, and direct ship through Sprint Stores. (However, the tablet will hit Sprint retail stores a month later on July 24th.) The Android-based Galaxy Tab features a 10.1-inch touchscreen at 1280x800 HD resolution, 16GB harddrive, 1GB RAM, and cameras on both sides.
