New technology allows 400 mbsp over telephone lines

High quality television over existing copper telephone lines can be a reality for North American Telcos, who has been losing customers due to broadband demands. Using Bonded DSL Rings, bandwidths of up to 400 megabits per second are available at a much lower cost than fiber.

Genesis Technical Systems Corp (GTS) of Calgary, Canada recently demonstrated the new technology at the Broadband World Forum in Berlin, in October of 2007. Using the already estimated 1.25 billion copper lines throughout the world, Bonded DSL Rings (BDR) would enable broadband speeds over existing telephone lines, therefore reducing installation and fiber line costs.
