Disney+ is sure looking like the better deal than Netflix. We learned today from the D23 Expo the upcoming streaming service will include HDR, 4K and Dolby Atmos with the basic $6.99 per month plan. That’s a lot less than Netflix who charges $15.99 for Ultra HD.
Other streaming services including Amazon and Hulu do not have higher tiers for streaming 4k.
The $6.99 per month Disney+ plan is even less than Netflix’s basic tier that costs $8.99 per month and doesn’t even include HD streaming.
And, if you look at the Disney+ plus bundle that packages Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu (ad-supported) for the same price as Netflix’s HD plan at $12.99 per month there is no doubt where the better value is.
But the introductory price for Disney+ may not last forever. Even Netflix, who has been dominating the industry, eventually raised prices to cover their increasing production costs.
For now though, new Disney+ subscribers will likely be holding on to their Netflix accounts while weighing the options. The two subscriptions (Netflix and Disney+ bundle) together will cost less than $30 per month. That’s a whole lot less than most TV services cost even at their basic tier level.
