The Secret Life of Pets 2 from Universal Pictures/Illumination Entertainment is releasing to Blu-ray, 4k Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, Aug. 27. An early digital release of the film is expected on Tuesday, Aug. 13. There are quite a few disc variations including retailer exclusives to choose from. Here’s a look at all the choices!
DVD
The single-disc edition of The Secret Life of Pets 2 is the most economical way to go for this release. Currently priced $19.99 (the same price for digital only), the edition includes one DVD and Digital Copy of the film (not always provided with DVDs) plus over 70 minutes of bonus material (about 10 minutes less than the Blu-ray Editions) including two Mini-Movies. Blu-ray
The 2-disc Blu-ray edition of The Secret Life of Pets 2 is for the fan who wants high resolution (1080p) copies of the film on Blu-ray and Digital plus a DVD copy for laptops, car entertainment systems, and DVD players. The movie is presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, DVS 2.0, and Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 in French and Spanish. 2 Mini-Movies highlight the 80+ minutes of bonus material included. 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray
The Secret Life of Pets 2 on 4k Blu-ray is for anyone with a 4k TV or mobile device that supports HDR. What’s significant about this title is that it’s HDR inclusive, meaning, it supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10+ — the newest improvement to HDR10 that provides more flexibility to color rendering scene-by-scene. As of now, there are just over a dozen UHD BD titles that support HDR10+. Best Buy SteelBook
Best Buy, like always, has a great looking Limited Edition SteelBook with images of Max, Snowball, Gidget and Chloe set in front of the city of Manhattan. The 2-disc edition includes everything the standard 4k Blu-ray edition packs, including bonus features, a Digital Copy redeemable with Movies Anywhere, and two Mini-Movies. Target Exclusive
Target has a 2-disc Blu-ray edition with Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy redeemable with Movies Anywhere. But what makes this exclusive is a 26-page gallery and activity book. Called a “Limited Edition Gift Set” this edition includes everything the standard Blu-ray packages with over 80 minutes of bonus features featuring two new Mini-Movies. Price: $26.99. Bonus Materials
The Blu-ray, 4k Blu-ray, DVD, and digital editions include 2 Mini-Movies (“Super Gidget” and “Minion Scouts” — that’s one less than The Secret Life of Pets included) along with over 80 minutes of original bonus content (70 minutes on the DVD) such as The Making of the Mini-Movies, deleted scenes, several featurettes and more (see below for a breakdown).
