Marvel Studio’s Captain Marvel has been released early to digital formats two weeks ahead of Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray and exclusive disc editions from Best Buy and Target. If you’re thinking about going all digital with this title (remember the disc editions also include a code to redeem a digital copy) here’s where you can buy Captain Marvel, what formats it’s available in, what it costs, and what bonus material may be included.
Formats
Captain Marvel is available only in High Definition (HD) and Ultra High Definition (UHD) with this early release. Those looking to purchase the SD version will have to wait until June 11. In Digital 4k the movie features High Dynamic Range (HDR) with HDR10. Microsoft and Vudu indicate HDR on the detail page. We assume FandangoNow also offers HDR but the description does not confirm it.
The audio is provided for the most part in Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 with the exception of Vudu which offers Captain Marvel in Dolby Atmos. (The discs will feature DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 on the Blu-ray and Dolby Atmos on the Ultra HD Blu-ray.)
Sharing
Captain Marvel is part of the Disney’s Movies Anywhere platform, so if you purchase the film from one service it should be available through other popular movie services including Amazon, Apple, Google, Vudu, and now Comcast Xfinity. (See a list of Movies Anywhere partners here).
Bonus Material
Bonus material with the digital purchase of Captain Marvel can include deleted scenes, audio commentary, the origin of Nick Fury, gag reel, and several featurettes (at most we counted 13 bonus titles). Extras may vary according to who you purchase from, so be sure to check with your preferred digital retailer to see if the bonus materials you would like to see are included.

Digital is the dumbest format on the planet!
Yes it is convenient, but paying almost the same price as the physical version, makes it not worth owning!
Best Buy was selling me the UHD for $26.99 and stupid services like Vudu are trying to charge $24.99 for the UHD… Why would I do that knowing that the disc based copy comes with the HDX version for free and I get a better 4K option with UHD BD.
At most UHD digital only should be $20 and until that gets in line, I’m done throwing my money at these Digtal Only Services.
