Warner Bros. Animation hasn’t revealed a whole lot about the animated feature film Batman: Hush that will release this summer, only that it stars Bruce Thomas and will recreate the DC comic book story arc created by Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb. [Update: We now know the film stars Peyton List, Rebecca Romijn, Rainn Wilson, Jerry O’Connell, and Jason O’Mara among others.]
The film was announced at San Diego Comic-Con last summer and will follow the release of Justice League vs. The Fatal Five (March 2019) and pre-date Wonder Woman: Bloodlines slated for October, 2019.
Batman: Hush, the comic book arc, ran for one year between Dec. 2002 and Nov. 2003 spanning issues 608 through 619 in DC Comic’s Batman. The story features the first appearance of Hush (created by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee), an enemy of Batman who is super intelligent and a world-class plastic surgeon, thereby allowing him to master the art of disguise.
The series also explores the relationship between Batman and Catwoman, who is one of the main characters in the story. And, Superman appears in Batman: Hush, having been weakened by the powers of Poison Ivy — another villain appearing in the series.
The 4k Blu-ray Disc ($39.99) and Digital Release ($24.98) of Batman: Hush are available to pre-order on Amazon (releasing Aug. 13, 2019). There is also a Region B/2 Blu-ray disc listed on Amazon (although unavailable and no release date provided).
