Paramount has upgraded the late eighties horror film Pet Sematary for release on Ultra HD Blu-ray with HDR on Tuesday, March 26. [Be sure to see our Twitter giveaway of this release.]
The Ultra HD release anticipates the release of a new rendition of the film starring Jason Clarke and John Lithgow, slated to premiere in theaters on April 5, 2019. It also celebrates the 30th anniversary since the original Pet Sematary in 1989.
Pet Sematary, of course, comes from the mind of Stephen King and was directed by Mary Lambert. The new 4k Blu-ray provides the same bonus features included in the 2012 Blu-ray release with audio commentary from Lambert and three featurettes.
We know the video is presented in 2160p with High Dynamic Range, but we’re hoping for an upgrade to the DTS-HD 5.1 channel soundtrack with the 2012 Blu-ray release: DTS:X or Dolby Atmos, perhaps?
There will also be a new 1080p Blu-ray edition of Pet Sematary releasing at the same time with same cover art. And, Best Buy has designed an exclusive SteelBook edition with custom art on the front, back and inside (see pic below).
Pet Sematary in 4k Ultra HD is available to order from Amazon for $19.99 or the SteelBook edition from Best Buy for $25.99.
Special Features:
- Audio Commentary by Director Mary Lambert
- Stephen King Territory
- The Characters
- Filming the Horror
