DreamWorks’ animated hits How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) have been upgraded for release on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Both of the 4k Blu-ray Discs feature 2160p video resolution with HDR10 for High Dynamic Range that extends the color depth, contrast, and details in light and shadow areas.
There’s also an English DTS:X soundtrack for immersive audio capabilities backed by Dolby TrueHD 7.1 (How to Train Your Dragon) and DTS HD Master Audio 7.1 (How to Train Your Dragon 2). Subtitles are provided in English SDH, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
There aren’t any new extras on the Ultra HD Blu-ray releases but the discs do offer optional filmmaker’s commentary. And, each combo edition includes a Blu-ray Disc and Digital Copy redeemable with Movies Anywhere.
How to Train Your Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon 2 can be pre-ordered for $25.64 (List: $29.99) and $23.89 (List: $29.99), respectively from Amazon. Remember, Amazon will charge you the lowest price upon Jan. 22, 2019 release date.
Presently, neither film is available watch at home in Ultra HD. The 4k discs anticipate the theatrical release of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World starring Cate Blanchett and Gerard Butler on Feb. 19.
Best Buy will release exclusive SteelBook edition of each How to Train Your Dragon film on Feb. 3, 2018.
