Disney will release Solo: A Star Wars Story to Blu-ray, 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray, and DVD on Sept. 25, 2018. Along with the standard Blu-ray copies, Best Buy, Target and Walmart will all sell exclusive limited editions. The exclusives are often more tempting to purchase, even if a few bucks more, given the addition of bonus content, custom packaging, and perhaps collectible items.
Let’s take a look and detail all the variations of Solo: A Star Wars Story on Blu-ray.
Standard Editions
The standard editions of Solo: A Star Wars Story will come in both a Multi-screen Blu-ray Edition with Digital Copy and Ultimate Collector’s Edition with 4k Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and Digital Copy (we hope in Digital 4k).
Video is presented in 1080p (Blu-ray) and 2160p (Ultra HD Blu-ray). The 4k Blu-ray is also expected to contain HDR encoding for enhanced color depth. For audio, the Blu-ray will provide English 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio while the 4k Blu-ray upgrades the soundtrack to Dolby Atmos. English 2.0 Descriptive Audio is provided on both formats, as well as Spanish and French language in Dolby Digital 5.1.
Bonus material on the Blu-ray disc includes a Director and Cast roundtable, several production featurettes, eight deleted scenes, “The Millennium Falcon: From Page to Park” and more. (Scroll down below for details.)
The common Blu-ray editions of Solo: A Star Wars Story are priced $22.99 (Blu-ray) and $29.99 (Ultra HD Blu-ray).
Best Buy Exclusive
Best Buy’s exclusive 4k Blu-ray SteelBook edition is priced $34.99. (They don’t have a 1080p Blu-ray SteelBook edition listed.) Like most of their exclusives, the limited edition doesn’t offer anything more than unique packaging, but the cover art featuring the Millennium Falcon and crew on back is a lot cooler than the standard editions!
Target Exclusive
Target’s exclusive 4k Blu-ray edition (also shown opened at top of page) includes a 40-page gallery book an exclusive retailer bonus. The Target Limited Edition features custom cover artwork and sells for $32.99.
Target REDcard Exclusive
Target also has a REDcard Exclusive with Millennium Falcon metal model kit selling for $32.99 (Blu-ray) and $42.99 (4k Blu-ray), both of which include the 40-page gallery book an exclusive retailer bonus. Unfortunately, you need to be a REDcard holder to get this one, and we would advise pre-ordering before they sell out.
Walmart Exclusive
Walmart has an exclusive Blu-ray edition of Solo: A Star Wars Story selling for $23.99. This is all we have on this exclusive edition so far, and the artwork provided on Walmart.com is obviously not final. We’ll update this section if we find out more.

Hi! You might actually be right. BB doesn’t say anything about a digital copy, which would be very unfortunate. ‘The Last Jedi’ SteelBook included a Digital Copy so here’s hoping ‘Solo’ does too.
That Best Buy steelbook may not have a digital copy. No mention of a digital copy on Best Buy’s website. Might be getting a pretty cover at the cost of a media format.
