Sling TV announced their new AirTV device that wirelessly streams free, over-the-air (OTA) local channels to internet-devices running the Sling TV app. This means TVs, mobile devices and streaming media players can extend OTA programming to multiple rooms and even outside the home.
The AirTV solution also integrates live local OTA channels such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, and PBS with Over-theTop (OTT) programs right into the Sling TV Guide, allowing easy access to either type of content.
As of now the AirTV OTA solution is available using the Sling TV app on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and iOS and Android phones and tablets.
“Our new AirTV solution solves two problems: first, it blends free local channels with OTT television, [second], because it’s a Wi-Fi-enabled device, you can power your entire home with one OTA antenna,” said Mitch Weinraub, director of product development for AirTV.
To function, the AirTV needs to be connected to an antenna and Wi-Fi network. The device can be purchased for $119.99 at AirTV.net and comes with a one-year warranty.
