Google Play has added about a dozen new 4k UHD movies since our last update, and, most of them feature HDR (High Dynamic Range) color improvements that take 4k beyond just the increased line resolution.
4k movies from Google Play can be watched using the Chromecast Ultra media player connected to a 4k TV and on some Android TV models. To view titles in HDR your TV must support it. Android TVs, unfortunately, don’t support HDR.
Google Play charges $29.99 per UHD title, a price that is significantly higher than Apple who charges $19.99 for most new movies.
Here’s a look at the newest movies from Google Play offered in 4k/HDR as of Feb. 1, 2018.
