You can imagine many fans of the Netflix Original series Stranger Things have no idea what a VHS is, and for those of you who don’t know it was the predominant home media format before DVDs came along. The VHS fits into the time period in which Stranger Things takes place, sometime in the 80’s when films like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Back to the Future, and Poltergeist dominated theaters.
But the Target exclusive release is really a 4k Blu-ray Disc in disguise. In fact, there are two exclusive editions of Stranger Things: Season 1: a new 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray edition (pictured left) and previously-released Blu-ray Disc edition (pictured right). The former includes copies of the season on Blu-ray, while the latter has the episodes also on DVD. This new 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray edition sells for $29.99.
Each Blu-ray combo edition of Stranger Things: Season 1 also includes a collectible poster, but unfortunately codes to redeem Digital HD or UHD copies are not provided.
Stranger Things Season 2 premiered on Netflix Oct. 27 and was one of the most binge-watched series over the opening weekend.
