Five New 4k Blu-ray Discs Release Today

There’s nothing like getting out of work and heading over to the local Best Buy to grab the newest 4k Blu-ray release. Today, there are five new titles on Ultra HD Blu-ray, not including two retailer exclusives from Best Buy and Target. Let’s take a look at what’s to choose from. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is likely the biggest seller today, already sold out on Amazon in standard Blu-ray but available on Ultra HD Blu-ray and DVD. The movie is also available as an exclusive Steelbook edition from Best Buy and limited edition from Target. The Disney title includes a bunch of extras including deleted scenes, making of documentary shorts, featurettes and bloopers.

The Bridge on the River Kwai 4k Blu-ray

The Bridge on the River Kwai is a 7-time Academy Award winner from director David Lean that stars William Holden, Alec Guinness, and Jack Hawkins. This remastered issue of the film to 4k includes enhanced color depth with HDR and an immersive Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Bonus material includes several production featurettes and short docs, a USC short film introduced by William Holden, an appreciation piece by Filmmaker John Milius, and photo gallery.

Kick-Ass Ultra HD Blu-ray package

Kick-Ass has been given the 4k treatment with a soundtrack in Dolby Atmos downward compatible with Dolby TrueHD 7.1. The edition from Warner Bros. includes the 4-part documentary “A New Kind of Superhero: The Making of Kick-Ass,” featurette “It’s On! The Comic Book Origin of Kick-Ass,” audio commentary with Writer/Director Matthew Vaughn, and marketing archive.


3-time Oscar-winner Bram Stoker’s Dracula is now available in a 25th Anniversary edition from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The 4k upgrade features HDR color enhancements and a remixed Dolby Atmos soundtrack for immersive home theater environments. Bonus material includes deleted scenes, 4 legacy featurettes, audio commentary, film introduction from Director Francis Ford Coppola, and more.

Warm Bodies is a zombie comedy from director Jonathan Levine that stars Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, and 2-time Oscar-nominated John Malkovich. On 4k Blu-ray, features a Dolby Atmos soundtrack (backed by Dolby TrueHD 7.1) with 2160p video resolution. Bonuses include audio commentary with screenwriter/director Jonathan Levine and actors Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer, 9 Featurettes, deleted scenes, gag reel, and theatrical Trailer.
