We’re half way through July and this week there’s a whole new batch of Blu-ray releases to report including two new 4k Blu-ray titles.
Kong: Skull Island releases to three different Blu-ray formats including standard Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and Ultra HD Blu-ray from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Video on the Blu-rays is presented in 1080p at 16:9 (2.4:1) aspect ratio, while the Ultra HD Blu-ray features 2160p video with High Dynamic Range (HDR) color. Audio is provided on all Blu-ray editions in Dolby Atmos backed by DTS-HD Master Audio. Special features include the two-part “Creating a King” extra, a companion archive, deleted scenes, director’s commentary, and several featurettes. The film is also available in several exclusive retail editions.
Season Two of Syfy’s The Expanse hits stores in a 3-disc Blu-ray edition from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The release includes all 13 episodes of Season Two on both disc and in Digital HD (via UltraViolet), along with bonus material on each disc such as commentaries, featurettes, trailers and more.
And, Criterion Collection has digitally remastered the classic Andrei Tarkovsky film Stalker for Blu-ray release. The 2k (1080p) restoration of the 1979 film includes an uncompressed monaural soundtrack, new English subtitle translation, interviews, and several other bonus such as an essay by critic Mark Le Fanu.
