Sling TV announced the launch of two new channels on their over-the-top television service:Â Weather Nation and Showtime Family Zone.
Weather Nation provides breaking weather updates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as local weather information. The channel is available in the News Extra pack for an extra $5 per month with a Sling Orange and/or Sling Blue subscription. Sling says Sling Orange and Sling Blue customers will get a free preview of Weather Nation for 6 months.
Showtime Family Zone offers family films and specials and is new in Sling TV’s SHOWTIME Premium package. The add-on is available for an extra $10 per month with a Sling Orange and/or Sling Blue subscription.
Sling also launched their “Refer a Friend” program today that gives Sling subscribers a $5 discount on their service when they refer a friend. What’s more, the friend also gets a $5 discount.
Earlier this month, analysts found through financial reports that Sling TV now has over 2 million subscribers. However, as Fool writes Dish’s satellite service has lost around 2.5 million subscribers, reporting 13.53 million subscribers in the last quarter.
